Some of the PAGIN Angling Guides have been to Disability Awareness
Training Courses run by the BDAA
We are a
group of like-minded anglers who have trained in various
angling related disciplines:
Casting
instructors, all formats
Fishing
coaches
Fly tying
and lure manufacture
Guiding
anglers as individuals or up to four anglers on any water
for any species in N.Ireland
Coaching
children in a safe environment
Fishery
design and development project management and construction
Event design,
set up and management.
One Stop
Shop for advice to all angling related businesses e.g. tourism,
accommodation providers.
Marketing
and administrating the different aspects of the above.
Members
must hold a Level 2 or Level 3 certificate from one of the
following accreditation centres:

Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructor
STANIC -
Salmon and Trout Association National Instructors Certificate
GAIC -
Game Angling Instructors Certificate
NAGC -
National Angling Guide Certificate
PAA - Professional
Angling Association
FFF- Federation
of Fly Fishers
BDAA - British
Disabled Angling Association
Mandatory
renewable certification in First Aid, Child Protection and
where applicable boat handling.
Our Marketing,
Admininistration and Fishery Advisory experts are fully
accredited and experienced in their own fields as well as
being accredited to one of the three bodies above.
To develop
and promote all angling formats.
To grow
and improve the inventory of fisheries and related facilities
available to tourist or day anglers with emphasis on the
needs of special interest groups. This will involve bringing
many derelict waters back into circulation with the help
of agencies tasked to assist in waterway enhancement.
To attract
tourist anglers.
To provide
world-class training, credible accreditation and genuine,
sustainable employment opportunities for our members.
To develop
and deliver an “Angling Academy” that will be
the engine for our own future instructors and guides, provide
ongoing assessment and life long learning for all our members
and crucially give us a platform to introduce angling in
all its’ manifestations to young people and those
adults who want to try something new.
To organise
a number of international angling events that will attract
people from all over the world to not only enjoy themselves
and return but to be ambassadors for the excellent angling
and highly trained guides and instructors that we have here.
To develop
the angling opportunities.
To facilitate
various licensing and policing bodies to move towards a
single license for all types and times of fishing.
To provide
a “centre of knowledge” that can dispense on
request expert advice or information on all angling related
matters to related businesses or government.
To provide
guides and instructors in every council district by 2007
and support these individuals in developing angling facilities
and angling tourists plus opportunities to teach/coach.
To bring
together the main angling development influencing agencies
and organisations in N Ireland and the R.O.I begin the process
of designing and then delivering a common plan to enhance
angling employment and tourism throughout.
To deliver
sufficient world-class guides and instructors to drive the
above.
To develop
the inventory of fisheries and related facilities at a rapid
pace over the next 6 years.
To seek
immediate and sustained funding & marketing support
to achieve our goals and those of our partners.
To put
in place by 2007 a single agreed licensing and accreditation
system for angling guides and instructors and thereafter
be seen to be the benchmark for such and protect this by
rigorous ongoing assessment of license holders.
To persuade
those bodies currently issuing angling licenses and policing
same to move to a single system common to all areas, types
of fishing and timescales to ease the burden on visiting
anglers.
To develop
by 2007 one major fishing festival and add two further events
(in discreet disciplines) by 2010.
